The thought of honey in the context of the Bible would always direct my thoughts to God Yahweh’s word as depicted in Psalm 19. Not only because it is the commandments of the Creator which I must obey but also because of its wholesomeness in every aspect for my well being in life!

As I ponder on the wonders of God’s creation, I marvel at creatures like bees and how their lives are intertwined with the making of honey! Honey is well known for its effects as an antioxidant and an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, besides being a sweetener and a nutritious food. It may cause pain as it combats infection in order for the wound to heal. It is, therefore, a fitting metaphor in every aspect for the word of God!

From my observation and experience in sharing life with my late husband, I have also learned to depend on God’s promises in His word especially when I have to face various exceptional situations. It greatly encouraged me to follow his footsteps as I witnessed his unfailing love for God’s truth even when he was slandered by some people or corrected by God’s Holy Spirit!

Another practical aspect is how God would patiently and clearly show me the need to be renewed in my heart and mind so long as I obey His word! Truly God’s word is life giving and is ever renewing my relationship with Him and with others around me.

Yes to keep His word is the way to live indeed!
