A sharing by Charis Wong for this song:
This song’s inspiration comes from a sermon preached on Psalms 46. God is our refuge and strength, a very help in trouble. The psalmist faced a great wave of challenges in front of him; however, during this time he could still be still. It is a song of surrender, where we cease our striving, and acknowledge that we need God, and we let go to let God take control of all the storms of our lives. Just like in 2 Chronicles 20 where King Jehoshaphat turned to God for help in facing the battle, and God told him to stand and watch the Lord’s salvation over Israel. In stillness, we can find peace, joy and healing for our distraught spirit. In stillness is where true power lies. Even though we may still be in the storm, yet we can be still in the storm, and know that Yahweh is God.
